United to triumph: Fans unanimous in their pre-match predictions
23 October 2009 Shawal Rosly, ManUtdSG

As we head into probably one of the biggest games in any United fan’s calendar, ManUtdSG’s ‘Prediction Board’ seems to suggest that fans expect nothing less than victory this Sunday as the Reds take on fiercest rivals Liverpool – with a staggering 95% of fans going for a United win, and the remaining predicting a draw. None feel that Sir Alex’s men will stumble to a defeat against the Scousers.

With a good recent run of form; and former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, set to taste his first experience on the other side of the arguably one of the world’s biggest rivalries, fans are certainly upbeat about United handing more misery to The Kop by inflicting their fifth defeat in a row.

Here are some thoughts from a couple of our fans of the week…

On United’s chances:
“I feel that Manchester United will definitely win this game. Our recent run of form has been fantastic and Liverpool has been bad these couple of games. Having lost 4 in a row, we'll add to their misery by beating them and making it 5.”

On how the game may turn out:
“I’m expecting a high-tempo game from United right from the start. I think our flanks will be the key to this game and they should run riot on the fullbacks. With bombardment down the flanks, we'll win this game!”

Prediction: 0-2 (United win)

On key players for this Sunday:
Rio (Ferdinand) could be a key player and needs to show an improvement in defence to prevent us from conceding unnecessary goals. And in midfield, I think Giggs (if he's playing) could be crucial too especially considering how he has wowed us with great performances this season. Of course, it would be great if – with a bit of luck – Owen can put in a goal or two to silence Anfield.”

On the two defeats to Liverpool last season:
“The two defeats last season to them (Liverpool) makes it all the important that United MUST win this Sunday. This will be the best way to shut some of their fans and critics up!”

Prediction: 1-2 (United win)

Join Keith and Julia this Sunday, 25 October, 10pm at The Marquee as they and the rest of the Red Army cheer the United boys on to victory against Liverpool.
